Development of immunologic diagnostic tools for the detection of zoonotic pathogens in humans, companion and farm animals.<\/p>


<\/p>

ABSTRACT<\/p>

ZoonDx project, coordinated by BioSystems in collaboration with LEITAT, aims to develop immunologic diagnostic test (serologic and antigenic) for the detection of the zoonotic pathogens Leishmania sp, Babesia sp and Rickettsia sp, with both animal and human application.<\/p>

Specifically, BioSystems will lead the development of serological tests based on indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA) or on enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). LEITAT will lead the development of antigenic and serological rapid tests based on lateral flow. As part of the project, under BioSystems’s lead, the partners will also obtain the basic biological materials for the specific detection of said pathogens and for the detection of the serologic response against them.<\/p>

LEITAT and BioSystems complement each other to cover all the expertise needed to fulfil these goals, accumulating between both research teams a vast experience in molecular biology, cell culture, obtaining of monoclonal antibodies (mAb) and single-chain variable fragments (scFv), development and automation of diagnostic assays. These two partners have previously joined forces on several occasions to develop new diagnostic methods.<\/p>

This formula has proven to be very successful in the past, with some products already in an advanced stage of development and very close to the market.<\/p>
