SmartPro aims to develop optimized ballistic textiles (both woven and spacer knitted fabrics) and apply innovative surface treatments (e.g., shear thickening fluids, ceramic coatings) to improve performance on an areal density basis. Fewer fabric layers will be required, leading to increased flexibility and reduced weight of the armor. Key parameters to consider include physiological comfort and ergonomic design.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Additionally, smart functions, such as positioning systems, will be integrated to enhance the efficiency of the body armor, ultimately leading to reduced casualties.
