Its membrane-free design enables 2D and 3D cell cultures without the need for pumps or tubing, making it easier to use and scalable for industrial applications. It also includes a <em>Design for Detection (D4D)<\/em> approach, enabling robust results compatible with standard laboratory equipment.<\/p><p>According to the jury, OGYX helps accelerate the adoption of Organ-on-a-Chip technologies by offering a <strong>robust, cost-effective solution aligned with new European regulations<\/strong>. Its potential will support the transition towards more predictive biomedical research models, significantly reduce the use of animals in testing, and foster the development of personalized treatments.<\/p><p>The EARTO Innovation Awards, organized by the <strong>European Association of Research and Technology Organisations (EARTO)<\/strong>, have been recognizing <strong>outstanding innovations from European research and technology organizations since 2009<\/strong>. In the 2026 edition, Leitat was distinguished <strong>among the top European initiatives in the <em>Impact Expected<\/em> category<\/strong>, which rewards technologies not yet commercialized but with high impact potential.<\/p><p><strong>Pooya Azizian<\/strong> has led the OGYX project and has been developed by <strong>Leitat\u2019s Diagnostic Devices Department<\/strong>, with the contribution of a multidisciplinary team of researchers and professionals.
