The event brought together representatives from public authorities, research organisations, technology centres, and industry to explore innovative solutions for <strong data-start=\"640\" data-end=\"693\">sustainable groundwater management and protection<\/strong>.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"696\" data-end=\"939\">The workshop provided a unique platform for <strong data-start=\"740\" data-end=\"805\">knowledge exchange, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration<\/strong>, fostering dialogue on the future of groundwater resources and the role of innovation in addressing growing environmental challenges.<\/p><h4><strong><br \/>Addressing Regional Water Challenges Through Innovation<br \/><\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"1005\" data-end=\"1424\">The event was officially opened by <strong data-start=\"1040\" data-end=\"1069\">Mario Gin\u00e9s P\u00e9rez Cervera<\/strong>, Mayor-President of Los Alc\u00e1zares, and <strong data-start=\"1109\" data-end=\"1137\">Ignacio Villanueva Jover<\/strong>, from the Hydrological Planning Office of the Segura River Basin Authority. Both speakers highlighted the environmental challenges facing the region, particularly those related to <strong data-start=\"1318\" data-end=\"1341\">groundwater quality<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1343\" data-end=\"1372\">water resource management<\/strong>, and the protection of the <strong data-start=\"1400\" data-end=\"1423\">Mar Menor ecosystem<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"1426\" data-end=\"1647\">As coordinator of the <strong data-start=\"1448\" data-end=\"1457\">NINFA<\/strong> project, <strong data-start=\"1467\" data-end=\"1477\">Leitat<\/strong> presented the project&#8217;s vision and ongoing work to improve <strong data-start=\"1537\" data-end=\"1591\">groundwater monitoring, assessment, and management<\/strong> through innovative digital and technological solutions.<\/p><p data-start=\"1649\" data-end=\"1911\"><strong data-start=\"1649\" data-end=\"1666\">Ainhoa Gaudes<\/strong>, representing Leitat, introduced the project&#8217;s objectives, methodology, and expected impacts, emphasizing the importance of <strong data-start=\"1791\" data-end=\"1819\">science-based approaches<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1824\" data-end=\"1853\">stakeholder collaboration<\/strong> in ensuring the sustainable use of groundwater resources.<\/p><p data-start=\"1913\" data-end=\"2194\">The session continued with a presentation by <strong data-start=\"1958\" data-end=\"1987\">Irene Fern\u00e1ndez Fern\u00e1ndez<\/strong> from <strong data-start=\"1993\" data-end=\"2004\">Aqualia<\/strong>, who showcased the innovative technologies being developed within <strong data-start=\"2071\" data-end=\"2080\">NINFA<\/strong> and provided updates on the pilot activities being carried out to validate new groundwater management strategies.<br \/><br \/><\/p><h4>Supporting Better Decision-Making with Advanced Digital Tools<\/h4><p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"2266\" data-end=\"2577\">One of the key highlights of the workshop was the presentation of the <strong data-start=\"2336\" data-end=\"2375\">NINFA Decision Support System (DSS)<\/strong> by <strong data-start=\"2379\" data-end=\"2402\">Georgios Manassakis<\/strong>. The <strong data-start=\"2408\" data-end=\"2415\">DSS<\/strong> is an advanced digital platform designed to support <strong data-start=\"2468\" data-end=\"2499\">data-driven decision-making<\/strong> by integrating monitoring data, modelling capabilities, and predictive tools.<\/p><p data-start=\"2579\" data-end=\"2935\">By providing stakeholders with reliable and actionable information, the platform enables <strong data-start=\"2668\" data-end=\"2715\">better assessment of groundwater conditions<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2717\" data-end=\"2750\">early identification of risks<\/strong>, and the development of more effective management strategies. The <strong data-start=\"2817\" data-end=\"2824\">DSS<\/strong> represents a significant step forward in advancing sustainable groundwater governance and resource protection.<\/p><p data-start=\"2937\" data-end=\"3194\">The workshop also benefited from the contribution of <strong data-start=\"2990\" data-end=\"3012\">Ignacio Villanueva<\/strong>, whose institutional and technical perspective provided valuable insights into current groundwater management challenges and regulatory frameworks within the <strong data-start=\"3171\" data-end=\"3193\">Segura River Basin<\/strong>.<br \/><br \/><\/p><h4>Promoting Collaboration Across Projects and Disciplines<\/h4><p>A key feature of the event was the <strong data-start=\"3295\" data-end=\"3320\">roundtable discussion<\/strong> moderated by <strong data-start=\"3334\" data-end=\"3353\">Henrietta Whyte<\/strong> from <strong data-start=\"3359\" data-end=\"3377\">IMT Atlantique<\/strong>.
