With the use of data and augmented reality, the experts will achieve a more comprehensive and holistic understanding of disease pathophysiology, dynamics, and patient outcomes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Integrating data for disease prediction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The OActive project intends to make a significant leap forward in the fight against this disease by adopting a multi-scale holistic approach. Patient-specific information from various levels, including cell, tissue, organ, and whole body, will be integrated and combined with information from other sources, such as biochemical\/inflammatory biomarkers, behavior modeling, and social\/environmental risk factors. This will help generate robust predictors for new personalized interventions to delay onset and slow the progression of OA.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Augmented Reality<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To overcome the limitation of current treatment interventions, Augmented Reality-empowered interventions will be developed in a personalized framework. This will allow patients to experience the treatment as more enjoyable, resulting in greater motivation, engagement, and training adherence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The OActive partners have four years to improve healthcare by transforming and accelerating OA diagnosis and prediction. The consortium integrates research groups, universities, and companies from Belgium, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. This project has been awarded a budget of \u20ac4,984,033.75 under the Horizon 2020 program for research and innovation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Joint pain<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative disease of the articular cartilage. It is the most common form of arthritis and causes joint pain, mobility limitation, and reduced quality of life.
