TRIANKLE <\/a><\/p>

On July, the Hospital Cl\u00ednic of Barcelona organized a session on Research Projects in Sports Medicine, within the framework of the Summer School Science and Culture program.<\/p>

In this context, our colleague from Leitat, Mario Marotta, Manager of Regenerative Medicine at Health & Biomedicine department, and Gil Rodas, Medical Manager of Bar\u00e7a Innovation Hub, presented the European project TriAnkle in the main lecture hall of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona.<\/p>

With a scientific-medical profile, the public gathered there was very interested in this regenerative medicine project that was born with the aim of improving the quality of life of patients with tendinopathies and osteoarthritis problems, increasing the functionality ratios of the injured tissue to 10%-15%.<\/p>

None of the currently existing surgical and non-surgical alternatives have been able to provide a successful long-term solution for patients with tendinopathies and often the treated tissues do not regain their full strength and functionality. In this scenario, the TriAnkle project aims to take advantage of the potential of 3D printing technology to design innovative personalized implants based on collagen and gelatin through a regenerative therapy that, in addition to improving the quality of life of patients, will have a very positive impact on the health systems of economies around the world by reducing patient recovery times by up to 50%.<\/p>

ABOUT THE PROJECT<\/strong><\/p>

Improving existing treatments for patient around the world.
The research is focused on improving patients\u2019 lifes. The project aims at developing an innovative treatment for millions of patients worldwide suffering from tendinopathies and osteoarthritis (OA), a health problem that especially affects the elderly, women and professional athletes.<\/p>
