YEAR OF BIRTH
Acondicionamiento Tarrasense is born in Terrassa, promoted by entrepreneurs from the textile sector. Measurement and physical control technologies are incorporated to guarantee the quality of the fibers and fabrics.
Growth and first scientific capabilities
The activity grew rapidly. Conditioning, weighing and humidity control devices were incorporated, and the chemical-textile laboratory was created, integrating scientific analysis into the industrial process. In 1920 it received official recognition from the State.

Consolidation and specialization
The facilities are expanded and adapted to new fibers and industrial processes.
Testing, verification and quality control capabilities are reinforced, aligned with European standards.
Civill War
The Civil War causes a significant halt in activity and material damage, affecting facilities and equipment.
1936-
1940-
Technical recovery and modernization
Equipment is renewed and processes are updated. New analysis and testing techniques are incorporated, improving the reliability of the results. In 1956 the 50th anniversary is celebrated, with a high level of activity.
Technological adaptation in times of crisis
Faced with the crisis in the textile sector, Leitat begins to diversify. Environmental control, resistance, safety and quality technologies are introduced, applicable to new industrial sectors.

Research as a technological engine
The laboratory becomes the central core of the center. Advanced testing technologies, certification and accreditation are incorporated, and the use of the name LEITAT, associated with quality and applied research, is extended.
Turning point
The integration of AITA expands the capabilities in research, testing and technological development, strengthening the center’s national reach.
1991-
From laboratory to technology center
Leitat evolves towards a model based on applied R&D, incorporating technologies linked to new materials, industrial processes, sustainability and innovation.
Knowledge transfer gains importance.
Multidisciplinary innovation
As a member of the Network of Technology Centers of Catalonia, Leitat consolidates capabilities in advanced materials, testing, sustainability, industrial processes and technological innovation, serving multiple sectors.

New stage
Leitat begins a new phase marked by the reinforcement of its technology center model and a renewed commitment to emerging technologies, knowledge transfer, industrial impact and sustainable growth.

On 15 February, the founding charter of Acondicionamiento Tarrasense was signed, marking the beginning of a project that, 120 years later, is known today as Leitat.

The starting point was the main celebration on 17 February, at Vapor Prodis, which brought together institutional representatives, the knowledge system, and the industrial and technological ecosystem.
