REFASHION
Textile testing and ecomodulation services for EPR compliance

The Refashion system is transforming the European textile sector through ecomodulation criteria, rewarding sustainability and penalising products with a higher environmental impact.
At Leitat, we help textile companies, brands, and distributors comply with Refashion technical requirements by providing advanced testing, material validation, and technological support to optimise their ecocontributions in the French market.

What is Refashion and the textile EPR system in France?

Refashion is the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system in France for the textile, footwear, and home sectors.

Ecomodulation adjusts the fees companies must pay based on criteria such as:

Companies that demonstrate better environmental performance can benefit from significant financial reductions.

Testing required for ecomodulation in France

To demonstrate these ecomodulation criteria within the Refashion system, technical evidence based on standardised and traceable tests is required to quantify the real performance of textile products.

These tests make it possible to translate product characteristics into objective indicators that determine positioning within the EPR system and, therefore, its
economic impact.

At Leitat, we carry out the technical validation needed to support these ecomodulation criteria through specialised textile laboratory testing.

They assess the product’s service life under real conditions of use:

  • Mechanical resistance (tensile, tear, or burst strength)
  • Seam strength
  • Resistance to pilling formation
  • Resistance to abrasion wear
  • Appearance of the garment after washing cycles

They analyse how the garment maintains its performance after use and care:

  • Shrinkage after washing
  • Fabric elasticity and deformation
  • Shape and fit stability

They measure the resistance of dyes and finishes against different agents:

  • Domestic and industrial washing
  • Exposure to light
  • Dry and wet rubbing

It allows the precise identification of the product’s structure and composition:

  • Fabric structure
  • Textile fibre identification
  • Detection of complex blends
  • Verification of recycled content

It determines the product’s ability to be recycled within current systems:

  • Ease of material separation
  • Compatibility with mechanical or chemical recycling
  • Structural complexity of the design

Why Leitat?

We do not just validate products — we improve them so they comply and compete better.

How can Leitat help you?

Turn regulation into a competitive advantage

At Leitat, we offer a comprehensive approach that combines laboratory capabilities, regulatory expertise, and applied R&D.

We support you in the technical preparation of your textile products to comply with Refashion and optimise ecomodulation.

Adapting is not only an obligation — it is an opportunity to reduce EPR costs, strengthen your brand positioning, and stay ahead of your competitors.

Who is it for?

Do you operate only in Spain?

Now is the time.

The regulation will soon arrive with Re-viste, the Spanish SCRAP system for textiles and footwear.

Anticipating now will allow you to be prepared and position yourself as a sustainability benchmark when it comes into force.
