LEITAT coordinates the RIS3CAT community: Technologies Applied to Health

In June 2016, the Generalitat approved 5 RIS3CAT Communities corresponding to the five areas identified as priority: Technologies Applied to Health (coordinated by LEITAT), Digital applications in biotechnology and health therapies (coordinated by Biocat), Sustainable Energy and efficient (coordinated by IREC), Healthy and Safe Food (coordinated by IRTA), and Ecological Mobility (coordinated by Ficosa).

The RIS3CAT is the strategy of research and innovation for the smart specialization of Catalonia, serving as a roadmap for the Generalitat of Catalonia to revive the economy and reorient the productive sector towards a more intelligent economic model.

With RIS3CAT, the Catalan Government puts research and innovation as a driving force for economic growth that allows the generation of new economic activity and new jobs by supporting the creation and development of innovative projects.

In this context, the Generalitat, through ACCIO, certifies the Technological Center LEITAT as the coordinator of the Applied Technologies for Health Community (TAS-CAT) to promote innovation in medical technologies within the innovation ecosystem.

The Applied Technologies for Health Community, coordinated by LEITAT, has the main objective of creating a space for collaboration and joint work in the health field that addresses the demands and challenges of the various stakeholders in the healthcare system.

More than 110 representative members of the Catalan healthcare network participate in this community, and the Community Action Plan is structured around 4 projects focusing on priority areas of specialization: Imported Technologies in Health and Big Data in Health.

The 3-year program of action includes entities such as the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, the Hospital de la Vall d’Hebron, the Terrassa Health Consortium, the Parc Taulí, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Intelligent Pharma, IDNEO, EAP Centelles, INERO, etc.
