From Science to Product: Leitat Bids Farewell to Cosmetorium 2025

Leitat concludes its participation in Cosmetorium 2025, the benchmark trade fair for innovation in the cosmetics industry, held on October 22 and 23 at La Farga, Barcelona. Over these two days, Leitat’s booth 739 has been a meeting point for professionals in the sector interested in innovative, sustainable, and high value-added solutions for the cosmetics of the future.

During the fair, Leitat presented its innovative prototypes:

  • BIOWASHEETS – New sustainable biopolymers that replace petroleum-derived PVA in water-soluble films to reduce environmental impact.
  • ATLÁNTIDA – Research into eco-friendly alternatives to microplastics used in cosmetics and detergents, promoting more responsible formulations.
  • UPCOSMETIC – Development of depigmenting products based on natural ingredients obtained through upcycling of agri-food by-products.
  • ADVANCED METHODS FOR EVALUATING HAIR DAMAGE – Techniques that allow the analysis of hair health and improve the effectiveness of cosmetic formulations.
  • MICROENCAPSULATED ACTIVES – Encapsulation of active ingredients for controlled release, enhanced protection, and improved cosmetic performance.

A highlight of the fair was the presentation by Jessica Romero, IP of the Skin Health Unit, titled “Sustainable Bioactive Ingredients: Up-Cycling for Cosmetics”, in which she showcased how agri-food, forestry, and marine by-products can be transformed into innovative bioactive ingredients that combine efficacy, sustainability, and safety in dermocosmetics. The presentation included success stories, as well as an analysis of regulatory trends and technical challenges in integrating these ingredients into stable and sensorially appealing formulations.

Leitat’s participation in Cosmetorium 2025 reinforces its commitment to innovation and sustainability in cosmetics, demonstrating how applied science can generate solutions that transform the industry and contribute to a more responsible and efficient future.
