FERTIL IBERICA SL is driving a project for the design and manufacture of an innovative microfluidic chip aimed at more efficiently separating progressively motile sperm. The goal is to develop a three-dimensional device capable of improving sample quality for assisted reproduction treatments such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF). The project focuses on adopting additive manufacturing technologies to accelerate the design, prototyping, and validation of these new microfluidic devices, enhancing process efficiency while reducing time and costs.
At Leitat, we support the company throughout the entire process through services including technological consulting, design and prototyping, microfluidic experimentation and validation, and training for technical staff. Our role includes defining device requirements, developing different configurations using CAD design, manufacturing prototypes with 3D printing, and evaluating performance through fluid dynamics testing and experimental characterization.
Through this collaboration, Leitat contributes to accelerating the development of a new medical product in the field of male fertility by incorporating advanced technologies and efficient design methodologies. The project strengthens FERTIL IBERICA SL’s capacity to innovate in assisted reproduction solutions and consolidates the use of additive manufacturing as a key tool in creating high-value microfluidic devices.
