Manufacturing of Spectrally Selective Smart Plasmonic Windows
Abstact:
The objective of this project is the fabrication of a set of PLSMC smart windows (SWs) to be tested and validated within the framework of Building Blocks 1, 2, and 3 of the iCLIMABUILT project. The main objectives of PLASMOGLASS are:
Develop screen-printable inks using engineered electrochromic nanomaterials for the active and counter electrodes of the smart windows.
Ensure that the inks meet the required specifications (e.g., viscosity, flammability, toxicity) for compatibility with manufacturing processes.
Develop and manufacture efficient, stable ion-conductive membranes (ICMs) with the desired properties (e.g., thickness, ionic conductivity) for use in the smart windows.
Ensure compatibility with the lamination process for subsequent manufacturing stages.
Manufacture PLSMC modules using the developed inks and ICMs, optimizing the screen-printing and lamination processes to produce functional electrochromic window modules.
Assemble and test the final prototypes, ensuring they meet international glazing performance standards and are suitable for real-world testing at the facilities of the Politecnico di Torino.
