SOILGUARD Consortium meets in Barcelona to celebrate the project finale

The final meeting of the SOILGUARD project took place in Barcelona at the Cambra de Comerç, hosted by Leitat, bringing together international partners to close four years of joint work, research and impact.

SOILGUARD has been one of the most international projects coordinated by Leitat, bringing together partners from Europe, Asia, America and Africa. This final event was attended in person by most of the consortium, including teams from Argentina, Cameroon and Thailand, strengthening the global dimension of the project.

Throughout its final year, SOILGUARD has generated valuable knowledge to fill key gaps in our understanding of soil biodiversity and soil-mediated ecosystem services. The project has delivered evidence-based conservation recommendations, aiming to influence EU and international policy frameworks, and to support Member States’ commitments under the Global Soil Partnership.

With the project concluded, the SOILGUARD community remains committed to engaging in Mission Soil initiatives, promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange to work towards a future where soil biodiversity and ecosystem health are safeguarded across EU biogeographical regions.
