The VaMPIRE consortium meets in Barcelona to advance early diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease

Tthe VaMPIRE consortium gathered in Barcelona for a two-day meeting hosted by the project coordinator, Linkcare Health Services, on 23-24th March.

VaMPIRE is a European project aiming to develop and validate an innovative in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) test capable of detecting Parkinson’s disease at its earliest stages, while also supporting prognosis and disease progression assessment.

Although the project officially started in November 2024, Leitat joined the consortium in July 2025, making this meeting the first opportunity to meet in person with the full project team. It was a key moment to align scientific progress, IVD development, and define the next steps.

Leitat was represented by members of the Diagnostic Devices Group — Joan Marc Cabot, Elena Guerrero and Ester Planas — together with Apostolos Salmatonidis from the International Projects Office.

The meeting also provided the opportunity to connect in person with partners who joined at a later stage, including Universidad de Oviedo and Sapienza – Università di Roma.

This meeting reinforces the partners’ commitment to the project, fostering collaboration and advancing the development of innovative solutions for Parkinson’s diagnosis.
