The Consortium of the VIBES project, formed by 13 partners, gathered on 14th November at Aitiip’s premises in Zaragoza, Spain, for its M42 meeting, as the project enters its final phase.
The meeting focused on the ongoing development of recyclable thermoset composites. Partners shared updates on the design and testing of materials, with validation trials ongoing in several industrial sectors. The team also discussed the final steps in the upcycling of high-value recovered components, which is expected to conclude shortly. Key areas of discussion included the safe collection and treatment of recyclable materials, and the progress made on sustainability and economic assessments. The session also covered plans for exploitation and stakeholder engagement, including communication strategies and training actions.
In parallel, the second stakeholder roundtable was held in Zaragoza, gathering 27 participants to discuss challenges and opportunities around the scale-up of biobased resin precursors, validation in key sectors, and new recycling technologies. The event reaffirmed the project’s alignment with EU goals on circularity and bioeconomy, as open conversations unfolded around pilot plant design, future commercialisation steps, and the path ahead.
During the meeting, Leitat presented its latest results in flax fibre characterisation, using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA). This work plays a role in evaluating food industry residues and supporting efficient recovery and valorisation solutions across the project.
The consortium also enjoyed a guided tour of the Aitiip facilities, rounding off two days of technical exchange and forward-looking collaboration.
