LEITAT @ Kick-off meeting of LIFE+ project MERMAIDS

LEITAT, along with all the partners of the MERMAIDS project, met at the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in Pozzuoli (Italy) during the 30th and 31st of July 2014 at the occasion of the project kick-off meeting.

The multidisciplinary consortium of the MERMAID project, titled “Mitigation of microplastics impact caused by textile washing processes,” aims to mitigate the impact caused by micro and/or nanoplastic particles resulting from laundry wastewater on European seas’ ecosystems. The project will demonstrate and implement innovative technologies and additives for laundry processes and textile finishing treatments. MERMAIDS is expected to reduce at least 70% of the total amount of microplastic fibres that is currently discharged in laundry wastewater.
