Leitat will collaborate with the Girona Chamber of Commerce to boost innovation in the Girona business ecosystem

Leitat, a technological center celebrating its 120th anniversary in industrial innovation this year, and the Cambra de Comerç de Girona have signed a framework collaboration agreement aimed at promoting research, development, and innovation (R&D&i) projects in the region. The agreement establishes a stable framework to encourage collaboration between both institutions and to make it easier for Girona-based companies to access advanced technological solutions, participate in European programs, and develop innovation projects with specialized technical support.

Planned actions include organizing technical workshops, trade missions, sectoral events, and laboratory visits, as well as exchanging funding opportunities and connecting companies interested in developing R&D&i projects. Through this collaboration, Leitat will provide the Girona business ecosystem with its expertise in areas such as industrial sustainability, health, digitalization, new materials, sustainable mobility, and energy.

In addition, the new agreement, with an initial duration of two years (extendable), includes the creation of a monitoring committee, which will meet quarterly to identify opportunities, prepare specific projects, and evaluate the results of the collaboration.

During the signing ceremony, Leitat’s CEO, Jordi Cabrafiga, highlighted that “the competitiveness of companies increasingly depends on their ability to innovate. This agreement allows us to bring technological knowledge closer to Girona-based companies and help them turn challenges into real growth opportunities.”

For his part, Jaume Fàbrega emphasized that “this agreement reinforces our commitment to the competitiveness of Girona companies. Through this collaboration with Leitat, we aim to provide companies in the region with access to technological opportunities and funding programs that enable a qualitative leap in their projects.”

The signing was complemented by a meeting between the management teams of both institutions to explore joint lines of work linked to promoting projects with a territorial impact.

This collaboration is part of the strategy that Leitat is implementing in the Girona region to strengthen its territorial presence and foster new technological alliances with companies and knowledge and innovation agents in the area. This initiative is supported by Roger Torrent, Leitat’s institutional representative in Girona. In line with this strategy, last October Leitat signed a framework collaboration agreement with the Parc de Recerca i Innovació de la Universitat de Girona to promote applied research, business innovation, and technology transfer.
