Enabling Technologies for the Implementation of Artificial Intelligence in the Value Chain of Additive Manufacturing
Abstract:
The METALIA project aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the Spanish industrial sector through the integration of artificial intelligence tools, such as machine learning, into the value chain of metal additive manufacturing. The goal is to optimize key processes such as design, manufacturing, post-processing, and life cycle analysis, achieving a more efficient, automated production with enhanced quality control.
The developed solutions will be validated through prototypes applied to different sectors, particularly in industrial biotechnology, thereby expanding the range of usable materials and promoting the industrialization of additive manufacturing. This will enable improvements in productivity and cost reduction, contributing to the technological leadership of the Spanish industry.
The project, framed within the Transmissions 2023 call, promotes collaboration between five SMEs (EGILE, CUBICOFF, GSC, BITMETRICS, and DLYTE) and four research centers (CATEC, IMDEA Materials, LEITAT, and UPM), creating an ecosystem that fosters the effective transfer of scientific knowledge into advanced technological solutions with high industrial application potential.
