SURFS UP Project Partners meet in Espoo (Finland) for the M12 Project Meeting

On 27–28 May, the SURFs Up consortium gathered for its 12-month meeting, hosted in a hybrid format at the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland in Espoo. Partners from across Europe came together to review progress, share results, and define the next steps towards advancing the use of biosurfactants.

The first day of the meeting highlighted the latest developments across all active Work Packages and offered a valuable platform to:

  • Present recent results and technical achievements
  • Strengthen collaboration between partners
  • Discuss the potential of biosurfactants as sustainable alternatives for multiple industrial sectors

On the second day, participants visited VTT’s #Bioruukki pilot plant, with a focus on lignin valorisation. The visit provided first-hand insights into the innovative technologies being developed within the project to transform lignin into high-value bio-based surfactants.

This meeting represented an important milestone for the SURFs Up project, reinforcing both its scientific ambitions and strategic objectives as it moves forward into the next stages of research and innovation.
