SOLSTICE consortium gathers in Berlin to advance circular textile systems in Europe

The European project SOLSTICE held its 24-Month Meeting in Berlin on 5–6 May, bringing together project partners to share progress, discuss ongoing challenges, and align on the next steps of the initiative.

Throughout the two-day meeting, consortium members reviewed updates across the different work packages and pilot activities being developed across Europe to foster more sustainable and circular textile systems.

Among the key highlights presented were the updates from the four pilot territories:

  • Berlin’s jeans repair bonus system.
  • Prato’s gamification app rewarding citizens for sustainable actions.
  • Grenoble’s progress in supporting upcyclers and innovative textile collection initiatives.
  • Catalonia’s upcoming activities.

The meeting also showcased several technical and recycling advancements related to textile circularity. These included sorting updates from Pellenc ST, chemical recycling developments by Recyc’Elit, and research carried out by the German Institutes of Textile and Fiber Research on aramid textile disposal.

In addition, TECHTERA delivered live demonstrations of the Valoramix tool, designed to support sorting professionals in visualising material streams and identifying recovery opportunities.

The programme also featured a workshop focused on citizen engagement in circular textile practices, scaling textile repair and reuse in European urban centres, and a visit to VORN — The Berlin Fashion Hub and SHIFT – Microfactory.

Representing Leitat, our colleagues attended the meeting in person, contributing to the ongoing advancement of the project and strengthening collaboration among partners.

With this meeting, the SOLSTICE consortium continues advancing innovative solutions to accelerate circularity in the European textile sector.
