On 16–17 June 2026, Leitat participated in the DigiCell M30 Progress Meeting, hosted by Politecnico di Torino, where project partners reviewed the progress achieved so far and coordinated the next steps as the project enters its final stage.
DigiCell is a Horizon Europe project focused on advancing battery material characterisation and digital twin technologies to optimise cell-to-pack performance in agile manufacturing pilot lines and automotive applications. By combining advanced characterisation techniques, artificial intelligence, data-driven modelling and standardised data management, the project aims to accelerate the development of more efficient, reliable and sustainable battery technologies.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the consortium to assess the status of the different work packages, validate recent technical developments and align the activities that will be completed during the final months of the project.
Within DigiCell, Leitat contributes to the development of AI-based forecasting methodologies, electrochemical characterisation, data acquisition and modelling approaches that support agile battery cell manufacturing and improve the understanding of battery material behaviour. These activities help strengthen the connection between experimental research, digital modelling and data management, supporting the project’s overall digitalisation objectives.
Discussions during the meeting also focused on consolidating project results, enhancing interoperability between digital tools and ensuring that the knowledge generated remains accessible and reusable by the wider research and industrial community. Partners highlighted the importance of open data environments and harmonised documentation to facilitate collaboration across Europe’s battery innovation ecosystem.
As DigiCell moves towards its conclusion, the project continues to demonstrate the value of integrating advanced testing methods, digital technologies and pilot-line validation to accelerate the development of next-generation batteries. Through its contributions, Leitat remains committed to supporting innovative, sustainable and data-driven solutions that strengthen Europe’s battery value chain and industrial competitiveness.
