Leitat will participate in Cosmetorium 2026, taking place on 21 and 22 October at La Farga in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, to present its technological capabilities applied to the development of new cosmetic products and share its experience in research, development and validation.
In a sector that demands increasingly effective, safe and sustainable products backed by scientific evidence, Leitat works as a technological partner throughout the different stages of the cosmetic innovation process, from the development and characterisation of active ingredients to formulation and validation.
During the event, Leitat will showcase capabilities in areas including biotechnology applied to cosmetic ingredients, advanced encapsulation and controlled-release systems, formulation development, safety and efficacy assessment, and the scientific validation of products and active ingredients.
This approach enables Leitat to support companies and brands in the development of cosmetic solutions, helping them address technical challenges, generate scientific evidence and advance towards products with market potential.
Leitat in the Cosmetorium 2026 programme
As part of Leitat’s participation in Cosmetorium, Jessica Romero Rueda, Principal Researcher at Leitat’s Skin Health Unit, will deliver the presentation “Skin absorption as a new competitive advantage in cosmetics: no penetration, no action.”
The session will take place on 22 October, from 16:45 to 17:05, and will address the role of skin absorption in the development of highly effective cosmetic products and in generating scientific evidence to support their claims.
The presentation will analyse the main factors determining the absorption profile of active ingredients —such as their physicochemical properties, concentration, vehicle or formulation, and skin condition— and explore the value of these studies as a tool to optimise product development and the balance between benefit and risk.
