LUPYPLAST advances the valorisation of plastic waste

Recently, Leitat welcomed the partners of the LUPYPLAST project for a working session focused on reviewing progress and coordinating the next phases of the project.

In a context where plastic waste management is a global challenge, LUPYPLAST goes beyond recycling by promoting waste valorisation through innovative processes.

The project focuses on transforming industrial plastics through advanced pyrolysis processes, generating:

  • High-end biolubricants (PAOs and esters) for industrial applications
  • Carbon nanomaterials for the energy and catalysis sectors

During the meeting, partners reviewed the progress of the different work packages. Within this framework, Leitat focuses on nanocarbon optimisation and sustainability assessment through Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), ensuring efficient and competitive solutions.

The project brings together a consortium including Neoliquid Advanced Biofuels and Biochemicals (coordinator), BRUGAROLAS S.A., Universidad de Alcalá (UAH), Instituto de Química Avanzada de Cataluña (IQAC-CSIC) and Leitat.

LUPYPLAST continues to move forward with the goal of promoting the circular economy in the chemical and materials sectors, contributing to a more sustainable model.
