Driving Green Hydrogen Forward: X-SEED Project’s M6 Meeting in Copenhagen

The X-SEED project consortium, composed of five partners, met on June 20–21, 2024 at DTU in Copenhagen (Denmark) to discuss the latest advances in the development of a membraneless electrolyzer operating under supercritical water conditions for the efficient production of green hydrogen.

The first day of the meeting focused on project management updates, including a review of risk and innovation monitoring, as well as progress on electrolyzer design, electrolyte selection, and modeling activities. Partners also presented recent developments in the synthesis and characterization of catalysts, with upcoming tasks targeting electrode development.

On the second day, the discussions shifted to the next phases of the project, including test bench preparation, scaling-up strategies, and communication and dissemination plans. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to sustainability, particularly in terms of circularity and efficiency to reduce the use of critical raw materials. The consortium aligned its strategy to advance toward laboratory-scale validation and beyond.

During the meeting, Leitat presented its contributions to the project, including:

  • Progress in the synthesis of perovskite-based nanofibers via electrospinning. Additionally, PMat will synthesize the catalysts using the CHFS process.
  • Electrochemical characterization and stability testing of the catalysys.
  • Launch of the work package on the design, development, and characterization of electrodes.

Beyond the technical sessions, consortium members had the opportunity to visit DTU’s laboratories on June 21.
