Technology and innovation for a more sustainable food system: Leitat’s participation in Food 4 Future 2026

Leitat participated in Food 4 Future 2026, held at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC), where it once again showcased how technological innovation can accelerate the transformation of the food system.

During the event, the technology centre presented key lines of work in the agri-food sector, with 12 solutions aimed at driving a more efficient, sustainable and competitive industry. These included developments in alternative proteins, 3D food printing, and artificial intelligence applied to quality control and process optimisation.

Over the two days, the Leitat team also shared advances in by-product valorisation, new functional ingredients and advanced vision technologies for food analysis, reinforcing its commitment to circular economy principles and sector digitalisation.

Within the congress programme, Leitat had an active role in several technical sessions. Highlights included Montse Jorba’s talk on food sovereignty and technological solutions for improving production autonomy, as well as Àlvar Gràcia’s participation in an international panel on circular strategies in food production.

In addition, the technology centre welcomed a delegation of Japanese companies facilitated by the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology and Innovation (CDTI), interested in exploring its capabilities and potential collaborations together with Joan Roig, who was also interviewed by the official event TV.

From Leitat, we would like to thank NEBEXT Next Business Exhibitions for organising the event, as well as all visitors who attended its stand over the two-day fair.
