- The technological centre strengthens its presence at the leading industrial event by showcasing advanced solutions in digitalisation, artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing and automation applied to industrial transformation.
Leitat has concluded its participation in Advanced Factories 2026, the leading congress on automation, robotics and Industry 4.0 held at Fira Barcelona Gran Via, reaffirming its position as a strategic technology partner for industrial transformation.
Throughout the three-day event, the technological centre showcased different capabilities and solutions aimed at improving the competitiveness, efficiency and sustainability of the industrial sector, bringing applied technology closer to companies, institutions and innovation ecosystem stakeholders.
Leitat’s stand once again became a meeting point for professionals interested in fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, additive manufacturing, new materials and industrial digitalisation, generating new opportunities for collaboration and connection with industry.
Institutional visits and industrial ecosystem
Advanced Factories 2026 also welcomed several institutional representatives and business organisations interested in learning first-hand about the technological capabilities and work areas promoted by Leitat.
Among them were Miquel Sàmper Rodríguez, Minister for Business and Labour of the Government of Catalonia; Nadia Quevedo, Commissioner for Economic Promotion, Commerce and Restaurants of Barcelona City Council; Carlos Méndez, president of Advanced Factories; Albert Planas Riera, director of Advanced Factories and CEO of NEBEXT.
Leitat also welcomed the delegation from ACCIÓ’s Network of Foreign Trade and Investment Offices, as well as delegations from the Official Chamber of Commerce of Spain in Peru and Barcelona Activa, accompanied by Sergio Ibáñez, who had the opportunity to discover first-hand the demonstrators and different lines of applied research and industrial innovation promoted by the technological centre.
Knowledge and applied innovation
Leitat’s participation also featured prominently in the congress programme of activities and conferences. Among them was the session “Leading Deeptech Ecosystems: Technology Centres Driving Industrial Impact”, moderated by Evelyn Moreno, which highlighted the role of technology centres within deeptech ecosystems and their connection with industry.
In addition, Lucio Grether took part with the presentation “Strategic management of industrial innovation: from risk to measurable impact”, focused on how industrial companies can innovate strategically by validating solutions quickly and reducing risks.
On the final day, Leitat joined Aigües de Barcelona in the session “Additive manufacturing for improving industrial operations and spare parts”, presented by Xavier Tutó, Principal Researcher of Leitat’s Additive Manufacturing area, and Jordi Castelló, Head of Operations Projects at Aigües de Barcelona. The session explored additive manufacturing applications aimed at optimising industrial processes through digital repositories, inspection and redesign of critical components, such as in the “Rodet 3D” project.
With more than 120 years of history, Leitat continues to strengthen its commitment to technology transfer and the generation of industrial impact through applied research and innovation.
