FUSILLI project partners gather M42 in Tampere, Finland, to advance sustainable urban food systems

The FUSILLI consortium, composed of 34 partners, met from 28 to 30 May 2024 in Tampere, Finland, to review progress and align strategies towards more sustainable urban food systems.

The general assembly began with updates from participating cities and a presentation on Finland’s pioneering free school meal programme.

The second day offered a variety of workshops and video sessions that promoted knowledge exchange and collaboration on food system innovations.

The third day included a visit to AhlmanEdu, where participants explored hands-on initiatives like urban gardening and composting as potential models for replication in other contexts.

Key discussions throughout the event focused on citizen engagement, support for local food producers, and the role of procurement policies in shaping sustainable practices. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to scaling up successful actions and driving long-term food system transformation across European cities.

Beyond the working sessions, participants visited the TAMK Catering Studio and joined a tour of AhlmanEdu’s facilities.
