The third consortium meeting, held in Slovakia, brought partners together to share the project’s progress and coordinate the next steps in the design, implementation and validation of these solutions.
The WATERGRID project partners met in Rajecké Teplice, Slovakia, for their third consortium meeting, hosted by the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra. The event combined a review of the first year’s results with working sessions to advance the development of nature-based solutions (NbS).
A first year of work to lay the project’s foundations
During the meeting, the consortium shared progress on site characterisation, the review of existing initiatives and hydrological modelling. Discussions also covered stakeholder engagement and the definition of the role of demonstration and validation sites within the project.
These areas of work formed the focus of the first-year review and provided a starting point for defining WATERGRID’s next phases.
From design to demonstration and validation
The subsequent sessions focused on the design and implementation of nature-based solutions, alongside the monitoring and modelling plans that will support their development. Partners also discussed the assessment of the project’s key performance indicators and explored opportunities for collaboration with related projects.
The meeting concluded with an agreement on the next steps, aimed at generating evidence, facilitating the transfer of results and preparing future demonstration and validation activities.
