AGRISOL

Research and development of new methodologies, processes, and components for the optimization of agrivoltaic technology

Abstract:

The AGRISOL project aims to research and develop new methodologies, processes, and components to optimize the implementation and operation of agrivoltaic systems in greenhouse crops. Agrivoltaics combines agricultural and energy production through the integration of photovoltaic panels, responding to the current trend towards the hybridization of energy sources.

AGRISOL seeks to improve the efficiency, weight, and transparency of solar panels, facilitate their integration into agricultural structures, and reduce costs. In addition, it incorporates digitalization and traceability tools to increase the efficiency of agrivoltaic processes through simulation and monitoring.

The project is part of the strategic area of Climate, Energy, and Mobility of the Spanish State Plan for R&D&I 2021–2023. Throughout its development, knowledge will be generated in photovoltaic technologies, greenhouse agriculture, structural design, and digital solutions.

AGRISOL is structured into five work packages, which include the simulation of pepper crops, the design of adapted photovoltaic systems, the development of mathematical models and traceability tools, the prototyping and integration of solutions, and finally, the validation of a field demonstrator.
