Leitat and Gene Vector Advance the Development of New Solutions for Gene Therapy Manufacturing within the PROCELL Project

Leitat and Gene Vector recently held the annual follow-up meeting of the PROCELL project, a collaborative R&D initiative aimed at driving innovation in the field of Gene and Cell Therapies through the development of new, more efficient and scalable production technologies.

The main objective of PROCELL is to develop and validate iProCell, a novel lentiviral production cell system designed to optimize the manufacturing of Gene Therapy Medicinal Products (GTMPs) and critical starting materials, such as viral vectors and plasmid DNA. This innovative platform seeks to address one of the sector’s key challenges: increasing production capacity while maintaining the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance.

During the meeting, the consortium partners reviewed the progress achieved to date and coordinated the upcoming project activities, strengthening a strategic collaboration that combines Leitat’s expertise in research, development and innovation with Gene Vector’s industrial capabilities and GMP-compliant manufacturing expertise.

Thanks to this synergy, PROCELL is advancing towards the implementation of more robust, efficient and scalable production processes, helping to accelerate the development and availability of advanced therapies for patients while reinforcing the competitiveness of the biotechnology ecosystem.
