The recent 18-month project meeting of the NetFuels initiative concluded after two days of inspiring and productive scientific discussions in the picturesque surroundings of the Schmerlenbach monastery.
Gratitude for a Successful Event
The team extends a big thank you to the Ithaka Institute for their hospitality, as well as to Nikolas Hagemann and his team for organizing this important meeting.
Leitat’s Contributions to Bioelectrochemical Methanation
During the event, Daniele Molognoni and Simone Colantoni from Leitat Technological Center presented the latest advancements in work package 3. They discussed the development of a pilot bioelectrochemical methanation plant, which aims to produce fossil-free and climate-neutral synthetic methane from carbon dioxide and oxygen.
About the NetFuels Project
The NetFuels project, funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe programme, is dedicated to developing and validating integrated chemical and thermal processes to produce sustainable fuels and energy from low-grade waste biomass. By maximizing biomass utilization efficiency and achieving certified negative greenhouse gas emissions through innovative technologies like Thermo-Catalytic Reforming (TCR) and bioelectrochemical technologies, this ambitious project seeks to create carbon-negative fuels and sequester carbon in the form of biochar.
