STREAMS Project

The STREAMS Project, funded by the European Union, represents a crucial initiative aimed at reducing Europe’s dependency on raw materials for battery production. This project is pivotal in paving the way for a more sustainable and self-sufficient battery industry.

At the first general assembly, Leitat showcased its significant contributions and innovative advancements within the project. Our team is leading the development of a groundbreaking electrochemical process for lithium recovery, essential for efficient battery manufacturing. This innovation not only enhances lithium extraction but also supports the creation of a sustainable supply chain for battery materials.

In addition, we are pioneering the use of Supported Liquid Membranes (SLMs) to optimise separation processes in battery production. By improving these processes, we aim to minimise the environmental impact of battery manufacturing, aligning with our commitment to sustainability.

Leitat is dedicated to ensuring that all our technologies adhere to European sustainability standards. We focus on eco-design and compliance with regulatory requirements, ensuring that our innovations contribute positively to the environment and society.

As part of the STREAMS Project, we continuously evaluate the economic, environmental, and social impacts of our initiatives, striving to make informed decisions that benefit the industry and the community.

Together with our partners in the STREAMS Project, we are committed to driving significant advancements toward a self-sufficient and sustainable battery industry in Europe, supporting the EU’s strategic goals and regulations.
