India-H2O Project: Bringing Together Efforts for a Sustainable Future

On 4th March, the final consortium meeting of the India-H2O Project took place, a cooperation initiative between Europe and India funded by the European Commission and the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, under the leadership of Dr. Gulshan Wadhwa. The Leitat Technological Centre played a prominent role in this significant gathering.

During the meeting, consortium partners presented the results achieved throughout the project, with particular emphasis on:

✅ Developed Technologies: Advances in technologies that have been developed and transferred to the dairy, desalination, and textile industries were shared.

✅ Social Impact: The social impact of the installation of filtration systems for obtaining drinking water in rural areas was discussed, marking a crucial step in improving the quality of life in these communities.

✅ Business Plan: A business plan for salicornia, a plant cultivated using the reject stream from the desalination system, was presented, representing an innovative and sustainable solution.

✅ General Objectives: Progress and achievements regarding the project’s general objectives were reviewed, highlighting the commitment of all partners to a more sustainable future.

This project is a clear example of how international cooperation can generate significant results in technological and social development.
