On April 15th and 16th, representatives from Leitat, Pablo Sánchez Cueto and Dr. Aroa Rey Campa, joined the general assembly meeting of the EU-funded BlueRemediomics project in Prague. This collaborative event brought together project partners, researchers, and stakeholders, providing a platform for updates, discussions, and planning for future research goals.
Advances in Microbial Research for Sustainable Aquaculture
Dr. Rey Campa presented Leitat’s latest work on cultivating microbial consortia isolated from salmon samples collected from wild and aquaculture sites. This research provides a deeper understanding of microbial ecology, focusing on how microbial communities interact in different environments and their potential to enhance sustainable practices in aquaculture. The findings hold promise for developing more environmentally friendly aquaculture solutions that prioritize ecosystem balance.
Strengthening Partnerships and Building New Connections
In addition to scientific presentations, the event offered valuable networking opportunities. The Leitat team reconnected with existing collaborators and explored potential new partnerships, which could prove instrumental in accelerating project advancements. Such collaborations are expected to enrich the project with diverse perspectives and drive innovative solutions for marine microbiome research.
Looking Forward to New Discoveries
With sample processing and data analysis underway, the BlueRemediomics project anticipates a period of significant progress, including groundbreaking insights and technological advancements. The team is committed to sharing updates as they continue to explore the potential of microbial applications in sustainable aquaculture.
