GUIDEnano presents scientific results at International Nanotoxicology Conference in Boston

The International Nanotoxicology Conference is one of the most important at a global level in the field of nanotoxicology. The 2016 edition was the 8th in a continuing series of international meetings and was held in Boston, USA, from June 1-4, 2016. The theme of this edition was «A Decade of Nanotoxicology: Impact on Human Health and Environment.»

Julia Catalán from FIOH, Margriet Park from RIVM, and Joan Cabellos from LEITAT attended the meeting and presented scientific results from the research conducted within the framework of the GUIDEnano project.

Julia Catalán gave a talk on «Genotoxicity of Metal Nanoparticles – Possible Nano-specific Effects,» Margriet Park presented a poster titled «Hazard Evaluation in GUIDEnano: A Web-based Guidance Tool for Risk Assessment and Mitigation of Nano-enabled Products,» and Joan Cabellos presented two posters with the titles «Coating Hydrophobicity Modulates the Intestinal Absorption of Nanomaterials» and «Influence of Different Experimental Variables in the Prediction of Nanomaterial Intestinal Absorption.»

The objective of this conference is to bring together scientists from academia, industry, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations to present current research findings, focus their respective talents and expertise, and initiate new collaborations to ensure the safe implementation of nanotechnology. The Advisory Board is currently working to develop the scientific program for this conference, which will include plenary lectures, symposia, workshops, poster sessions, and dedicated time for presentations by young scientists.
